ABOUT

The Ghana Guru programme is an interactive learning platform experience that is designed to improve participants’ knowledge of Ghana and equip them with skills to promote Ghana as tourism destination; in essence they become Gurus on Ghana offering them the chance to market themselves as such and to improve the level of services to tourists.

Objectives

To develop, enhance and improve the skill sets and capacity of tourism professionals as well as the knowledge of stakeholders and operators in both the formal and informal sectors.

To develop professionals (“Gurus”) for the Ghana tourism industry through interactive online learning programme.

To award certificates to participants who complete the programme and confer on them the Ghana Guru title.

WHY GHANA GURU?

The course is 100% free.

Be able to brand yourself as Ghana Guru (Ghana tourist expert) in your marketing materials and resume.

Acquire a recognised certificate signed by the Ghana Tourism Authority indicating you have duly completed the Ghana Guru Course.

Increase your knowledge of Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Ghana which will directly increase your earning potentials.

Increase your competitive advantage and ability to create more enticing packages for tourists.

FUNDAMENTAL MODULES

There are three modules:

  • Introduction to Ghana
  • Coming to Ghana
  • Moving to Ghana

Each of the modules must be completed within three hours. This includes the reading of the course materials (including videos and photos) and the quiz. The pass mark for each module is 80%.  The course can be taken in any order but all the three modules must be completed before you can proceed to the Proficiency Modules.  You can move to the next module at your own pace since there is no time restriction on this. You are advised to read materials at www.visitghana.com and www.tourghana.com before you start each module.

PROFICIENCY MODULES

There are four modules:

  • Culture and Regional Background
  • Ecotourism and Adventure
  • Heritage
  • Meetings, Conferences and Exhibitions
